SCHOOL BUS DEMOLITION DERBY TO ROCK RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
SATURDAY JULY 21ST

Bob Finan PR

The foundation of the 68-year old Riverhead Raceway will be rocking this Saturday night July 21st when a School Bus Demolition Derby will be presented along with six NASCAR Whelen All American Series feature events. There is nothing like the sight and sound of these 13 ton giants as they make contact in a all out Demolition Derby brawl.

After a week off the NASCAR Modifieds return to action Saturday led by 2018 championship leader Kyle Soper of Manorville and defending champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead. The "Mod Squad" will go to post in a 40-lap main event with the likes of John Beatty Jr. of Merrick, John Fortin Sr. & John Fortin Jr. of Holtsville, David Schneider of Northport, Dave Brigati of Calverton, Howie Brode of East Islip, Eddie Brunnhoelzl III of Levittown, Chris Young of Calverton, Brand Van Houten of Wading Riverhead, Roger Turbush of Riverhead, Dylan Slepian of Dix Hills and CJ Lehmann of Shirley all are expected to be in action.

The Late Model class will run a 50-lap main event featuring time trial qualifying with the program be complimented by the Figure Eights, Super Pro Trucks, INEX Legend Race Cars and a Street Stock event. Leading the Late Model stars into the 50-lapper will be defending champion Kyle Soper who also happens to be the defending class champion. Chris Turbush of Wading Riverhead, Jeremy McDermott of Riverhead, Chris McGuire of Shirley and "Radiant" Ray Minieri of Bay Shore are just a handful of drivers to watch during the Late Model tilt.

Once the racing has been completed it will be time for the School Bus Demo to take center stage led by tested tough veteran Michael "Cheesebox" Rommeney of Bohemia. One driver who has been hot in bus competition this year is two time School Bus Figure Eight winner Paul Fox of Riverhead who hopes to outlast Rommeney and others in the hard hitting contest where anything can and usually does happen. Others expected to compete are "The Z-Man" Ryan Zurkowski of Riverhead, "Junk Yard Dog" John Denniston of Westbury, Chris Van Cott of Dix Hills and Kris "Ham Wallet" Dane of Hicksville.

Opening ceremonies and feature racing will take place approximately 7:00 pm and be proceeded by qualifying. General admission is $30 for adult, $10 for kids 6-11 with 5 and under free.
