Megasaurus Highlights Miller Lite Night
Riverhead Raceway Program August 11th
by Bob FInan

Megasaurus, a 32-foot tall, fire breathing, car destroying prehistoric monster will highlight the Miller Lite night NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program on Saturday August 11th at Barbara & Jim Cromarty's Riverhead Raceway that will also feature a full slate of stock car racing and a 4-Cylinder Demolition Derby. With the running of the August 11th show the 2012 championship battles will enter the final month of the point paying season.

If you thought the last spicy meal you enjoyed gave you heartburn, well you've never met Megasaurus who comes from another time and another place but he'll be at Riverhead Raceway Saturday with his red eyes blazing, breathing fire and ready to devour anything that gets in his way. Megasaurus will at first play with a helpless full size car before totally destroying it, not in one bite mind you but piece by piece. It's a show for young and old to enjoy and was extremely popular the last time Megasaurus' cousin, Transaurus, raised havoc at Riverhead Raceway.

A sub-compact 4-Cylinder Demolition Derby will conclude the evening with Andrew Fowler taking a 50-point lead over Jason Savoy into the contest. Others expected to compete are Rich Fowler, Tim Mulqueen, "Pistol" Pete Mikos and others. The 2012 Demolition Derby title will be decided on Saturday September 22nd, the new date for the Miller Lite National Demolition Derby Championship which pays $1,500 to win.

The NASCAR Modifieds will run a 35-lap Miller Lite night feature event with Shawn Solomito, Howie Brode, Tom Rogers Jr., Ted Christopher and John Beatty Jr. involved in the 2012 championship chase. The Late Models will make a triumphant return to compete in the Joseph M. Troffa & Sons Landscape and Mason Supplies 25 with defending champion Mike Bologna leading the standings over Peter "Buzzy" Eriksen, Shawn Patrick, Chris LaSpisa and Scott Kulesa.

The 2012 Charger title fight has intensified with Jeremy McDermott leading the likes of Eric Zeh, Chris Turbush, John Baker and "Radiant" Ray Minieri. Turbush is the four time defending champion in the class and is in the midst of a late season chase during his own version of a drive for five, while the others hope to end his reign at four. The Super Pro Trucks will go 20-laps with Chris Turbush leading Lou Maestri, Roger Turbush, Frank Dumicich Jr and Mike Albasini for the championship, while Kyle Ellwood will go into the Legend Race Car feature as the championship leader over Kyle Soper, defending champion Chris Young, Brendon Bock and Vinny Delaney.

Added fun for the children will come in the form of a free Amusement Ride in turn three courtesy of promoters Barbara & Jim Cromarty making this card a great family entertainment value. Feature event racing will start at 6:00 pm and be preceded by NASCAR Modified time trials.
