.. Fireworks Display To Help Riverhead Raceway Celebrate I Love America Night Saturday August 25th by Bob FInan Barbara
& Jim Cromarty will once again take a moment from the busy season ending
championship battles in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at
Riverhead Raceway this Saturday August 25th and pause to recognize this
wonderful country in which we live with the annual I Love America night
celebration. The Donaldson's Volkswagen-Subaru night program will be
highlighted with a breathtaking Fireworks display by Long Island's own
award winning pyrotechnic firm Bay Fireworks with a bone jarring, car
destroying Demolition Derby to end the evening.Bay Fireworks thrilled the Riverhead Raceway faithful with a wonderful Fireworks presentation back on July 7th for Independence Day and despite being delayed by weather for a half an hour but afterwards many commented it was the best display they had ever seen in the 63-year history of Riverhead Raceway and well worth the wait. Barbara & Jim Cromarty have long been known as patriots of America and feel to take some time to salute our country on a day other than Memorial Day or the 4th of July is very important indeed. Donaldson's Volkswagen-Subaru has been a marketing partner with the track since 1989 providing a pace vehicle annually with the high performance VW GTI the 2012 pace car from the Sayville dealership. All feature event winners will take home a trophy from Donaldson's and on the racing menu are the NASCAR Modifieds, Figure Eights, Chargers and Legend Race Cars, with the 2012 championship chase in all four divisions entering the final few weeks starting with the I Love America night program. Last but certainly not least on the card will the final 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby leading up to the September 22nd National Demolition Derby on Miller Lite night, that event on the 22nd for the 8-Cylinder machines pays a handsome $1,500 to win. The August 25th event will be a final tune-up for the National Championship event and it also is a major stepping stone in the season long point championship as well. Andrew Fowler of Wantagh is the points leader going into this event over former champion Jason Savoy of Lake Panamoka, 310 to 190 with a win worth 100 points per event, so Savoy is still with three Demo's to go very much in the hunt. Also expected for the I Love America night Demo are Rich Fowler, Matt Mulqueen and many more. A Free Amusement Ride will be provided by Barbara & Jim Cromarty for the children on August 25th in the turn three midway area of the track. Action will get underway with feature event racing at 6:00 pm Saturday August 25th with NASCAR Modified time trial qualifying and Legend heat races proceeding the feature events. It's a family fun and patriotic night of stock car racing, fireworks and car destruction this Saturday night at Riverhead Raceway.
