Riverhead Raceway Falls To Weatherman Saturday by Bob FInan With rain falling at Riverhead Raceway at 12:30 pm Saturday which was the scheduled time for the pit area to open promoters Barbara & Jim Cromarty made the tough decision to call the night's NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program that included a Full Size School Bus Demolition Derby. Even if the rain stopped as the pits opened the track would have still needed a couple of hours to dry and set the show back too far. The completion of the August 11th Late Model feature will carry over to this coming Saturday August 25th as will this past Saturday's Full Size School Bus Demolition Derby which will join the Fireworks program already scheduled for I Love America night making this a double spectacular program! The 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby for this week has been dropped. Joining the Donaldson's Volkswagen-Subaru I Love America Night are the NASCAR Modifieds, Figure Eights, Chargers and Legend Race Cars. A make-up date for the INEX National Qualifier race set this past Saturday for the Legend Race Cars will be announced during the week, several out of state Legend Race teams were at the track when the postponement was announced.
