'Lil' Jason Trinca
Memorial 50 And Champions Night Set For Riverhead Raceway Saturday
September 8th
by Bob FInan
The
chase for the 2012 Riverhead Raceway championships will be settled
Saturday night September 8th at Barbara & Jim Cromarty's historic oval
with Champions Night being presented with all seven stock car divisions
in action. The final NASCAR Modified race of the year will be a 50-lap
contest and it was recently announced the race would be known as the 'Lil'
Jason Trinca Memorial in honor of this 7-year old aspiring racer who
along with his mother Keri were tragically killed last October in a
motor vehicle accident.
At the completion of the 48th lap the 'Lil' Jason Trinca Lap 48 Leader
Bonus will be paid to the leader of the NASCAR Modified race in honor of
Jason's EEKR Go-Kart number. Christine Rickert is currently accepting
donations at the NASCAR Registration window to sponsor the 'Lil' Jason
Trinca Lap 48 Leader Bonus award. The NASCAR Modified title for 2012 has
boiled down to two drivers with Islip's Shawn Solomito and Howie Brode
of East Islip the contenders. Solomito and his wife Kristy are very
close with the Trinca family. Jay Sr. is a valued member of the SS
Motorsports team so he and Shawn would love nothing better than to not
only win his first career title in this race but lead lap 48 as well.
No matter who wins the Riverhead track title or the 'Lil' Jason Trinca
Memorial 50 the 2012 season has indeed been one of the most successful
for the NASCAR Modifieds with some great racing and healthy car counts
highlighting the season. More than likely the 2012 NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series New York State champion will be a Riverhead Raceway
competitor.
The September 8th show will be the final points race for all divisions
as announced on the 2012 schedule as Champions night. All track
champions no matter where they finish in their respective features will
get a victory lane interview saluting their title. The champions will
also be honored during the off-season at the annual Champions Luncheon
hosted by Bob Finan.
Joining the 'Lil' Jay Trinca Memorial 50 for the NASCAR Modifieds on the
September 8th program are the Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers,
Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and Legend Race Cars. Feature event
racing will commence at 5:30 pm with time trials for the NASCAR
Modifieds preceding the seven main events.
