.. Opening Weekend Set To Kick Off 2013 Season At Riverhead Raceway May 4th And 5th Riverhead Raceway promoters Barbara & Jim Cromarty announced recently that the 2013 race season at Riverhead Raceway would get underway on Saturday May 4th and Sunday May 5th, marking the 63rd season of stock car racing at the Route 58 quarter mile oval. Saturday evening May 4th will find a seven division NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program being presented while the next afternoon Sunday May 5th will see the track's Enduro racers in action. Once again the NASCAR Modifieds will headline the weekly race card at Riverhead Raceway and the opening night card again finds the 600 horsepower machines racing in Twin 30 feature events for the second consecutive season. Timmy Solomito of Islip was the overall winner in the 2012 lid lifter after Eddie Brunnhoelzl III won the first 30, Solomito quickly took command on the double file restart to take the lead and victory. The NASCAR Modifieds once again have several marquee races in 2013 during the Whelen All-American Series including the NASCAR Hall of Fame 100 Saturday June 8th, The Cromarty Cup 50 on July 6th as well as the Baldwin, Evans and Jarzombek Memorial 77 on July 20th. It was also announced by the Cromarty's and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour that two WMT events have been scheduled for the upcoming season, Saturday June 29th and Saturday September 14th. Complimenting the weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series programs will be the popular Late Models, the famed Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and Legend Race Cars of INEX. The 2013 Riverhead Raceway schedule once again blends in some exciting Family Entertainment events through out the summer that include two great Firework shows on July 6th and again August 24th, Full Size School Bus Demolition Derbies and 4 & 8-Cylinder Demolition Derbies. The annual Labor Day weekend Monster Truck shows starring Big Foot may very well feature a new twist this season as the huge and powerful trucks will try and utilize the track's Figure Eights course! The 2013 opening weekend will be proceeded by two pre-season practice sessions Saturday April 20th and April 27th at Riverhead Raceway and as always feature free grandstand admission with warm-ups starting at 12 noon each day.
