MOTHER NATURE CONTINUES TO DOMINATE AT RIVERHEAD RACEWAY AS TRACK SUFFERS 9TH RAINOUT OF SEASON SATURDAY NIGHT
Bob Finan PR
Weather continues to dominate the 2018 NASCAR Whelen All American Series at Riverhead Raceway as the I Love America Night program was washed out for the second week in a row Saturday. It was the ninth overall rainout on the season at the historic track, as the sixth of sixteen scheduled Saturday night programs was again lost to the wet stuff.
A slow moving cold front was the culprit Saturday and while the decision to call off the night's racing was made during improving weather conditions it was the forecast for the late afternoon and evening that prompted Eddie & Connie Partridge & Tom Gatz to call off the show. That decision turned out to be a prudent one as soaking rains and heavy thundershowers draped over Long Island during the dinner hour leaving over an inch of rain in it's wake.
