RIVERHEAD RACEWAY TO CONDUCT 2021 SAFETY TECH INSPECTIONS SATURDAY APRIL 3RD AND APRIL 10TH
Bob Finan PR
Riverhead Raceway officials have set aside Saturday April 3rd and Saturday April 10th as the 2021 dates for all competitors to present their cars for the mandated Safety Tech Inspection prior to hitting the track for any practices or competition. Chief of Inspection Randy Murray and staff will be available from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm weather permitting both days to conduct the inspections that include the race car and the safety equipment worn by drivers. There is a $20 per car fee for inspection.
The two Safety Tech Inspection days are the first two official acts at the track for 2021, a season that track owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz are hopeful will see a return to normalcy at the 71-year old quarter mile after enduring a trying 2020 campaign due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The two inspection days are to be followed by the return of the two traditional spring pre-season practice sessions Saturday afternoons April 17th and 24th.
Prior to any race car taking to the track on those practice days it must first go through and pass the 2021 Safety Tech Inspection and display a sticker indicating such. The inspection days are open to all 13 divisions that make up the schedule for the new season including the newly announced Bandolero class. As in the past Randy Murray also noted that if weather and time conditions permit that he and he veteran staff of inspectors would also perform the mandated sealing of engines for divisions requiring engine seals with the exception of the NASCAR Spec Engine. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour officials will seal the NASCAR Spec engines for the Riverhead teams that compete with them at the track Saturday March 27th.
Additionally the Riverhead Raceway office staff reminds all race teams that no car will be permitted to practice or race without first securing their 2021 car number and provide a completed W-9 tax form. That process can be completed by visiting www.riverheadraceway.com and following the car registration link. Also available on the track homepage are the 2021 NASCAR license renewal form for those race team members requiring a NASCAR license.
The Safety Tech Inspection and pre-season practice days are a prelude to the Opening Weekend 2021 at Riverhead Raceway set for Saturday evening May 1st and Sunday afternoon May 2nd. A seven for one NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series program will be presented to start the weekend off Saturday headlined by the NASCAR Modifieds who'll be joined by the Late Models, Crate Modifieds, Figure Eights, Figure Eights, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and INEX Legend Race Cars. Qualifying is set for 5:30 pm. Then less than 24 hours later the May Meltdown race program will be presented Sunday afternoon at 12:30 pm. The Street Stock and Mini Stock divisions will share the Sunday spotlight and are joined by three Enduro divisions, Truck, 8-Cylinder Gut & Go and 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go Enduros. The first ever Bandolero 15-lap main event will take place on week two of the season Saturday May 8th.
