PRE-SEASON INSPECTIONS SET FOR APRIL 5TH & 12TH AT RIVERHEAD
Riverhead, N.Y. Feb. 28th
By Bob Finan

Mike Cappiello and Jim Maggio, co-chief stewards for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Riverhead Raceway disclosed today that the two pre-season safety tech inspections are set for Saturday April 5th and April 12th starting at 9:00 am both days.

As has been the case over the past several seasons no racecar will hit the quarter mile oval for practice without a sticker noting that the car has undergone and passed the pre-season safety tech inspection. Walter Bonczyk who heads the Riverhead Raceway inspection staff will have his entire team on hand both Saturday April 5th and 12th until 3:00 pm to perform the inspections. Teams are encouraged to try and make the first date April 5th just in case you need to make some changes to pass inspection, this way you can present your car for approval again on the 12th.

Bonczyk also told teams in the January 27th winter meetings that if weather conditions were favorable and time permitted he'd perform the engine sealing process as well. A nominal $5 fee will be charged to enter the pits for the pre-season safety tech inspection.

Saturday April 19th will also find the Riverhead pit gates opening at 9:00 am for safety inspection and that of course is the first of two pre-season practice days at Riverhead Raceway. Cars from the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will hit the track at 12:00 noon and run until 4:30 pm, at which point the track will be turned over to the Enduro divisions for practice. That format will again be repeated on Saturday April 26th and best of all for those two days the grandstand admission is free!

The opening weekend for Riverhead Raceway is set for Saturday May 3rd and Sunday afternoon May 4th. For a complete schedule of events and other information please visit www.riverheadraceway.com or call us at 631-842-RACE.
