RICHIE DAVIDOWITZ BESTS RIVERHEAD RACEWAY EAGLE CHEVROLET CRATE MODIFIED, ED CHESLAK SCORES FIRST CAREER LATE MODEL WIN SATURDAY

There were fireworks in the air and at times on the track at Riverhead Raceway Saturday during the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program. When the dust settled Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches had earned his third career Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modified victory, while a popular first career win unfolded in the 25-lap Late Model event where Ed Cheslak of Rocky Point finally grabbed the brass ring.
Early in the extra distance Crate Modified tilt Sean Glennon and Joey Braun ran up front, Glennon steering a ride Braun had previously strapped into. A double file restart on lap 6 found Vinny Delaney sneaking under Braun to come to second filing into second behind his good friend and leader Glennon. Meanwhile Richie Davidowitz, the all-time leading INEX Legend Race Car winner at the track was making moves of his own after starting mid pack. Richie moved the Rat Pack Racing entry to second passing Delaney on lap 14 and he wasn't done yet as 4 laps later he slid the Rosemar Industries Chevy under Glennon exiting the fourth corner on lap 18 to take the lead. Delaney, now back to third had Michael Berner to contend with for third, Berner was making some moves of his own.
Over the final segment of the event Richie Davidowitz was not to be denied his 8th career Eagle Chevrolet triumph, the win tying him with Justin Brown of Manorville for 6th on the all-time win list. Michael Berner of Patchogue made some late race moves to finish second in the Drifters Kitchen Chevy; Vinny Delaney of Islip Terrace completed the podium in the Stakey's Pumpkin Farm entry. Championship leader Eric Hersey of Commack and Sean Glennon of Northport whose car faded late were fourth and fifth.
If you led the 25-lap Late Model race during a 4th lap caution flag, you were jinxed, or so it seemed. The race started off innocently enough, Keith Rotzi moving out front at the throw of the green, Ray Minieri right with him over the first lap. The second circuit found Minieri moving into the lead, bringing CJ Lehmann to second with him. Then it happened. Dave Brigati spun entering the first turn his machine leaving a streak of fluid beneath it. While waiting for clean-up to be completed, a fire erupted in the dash/gauge area of leader Minieri's car, flames extinguished, disappointed, Ray was pushed to the pits. Enter CJ Lehmann as the new leader, but wait just a second, his car left a trail of fluid to where it sat idle on track, he too behind the wall for repairs.
When the race resumed Rotzi was back out front, chased by Ed Cheslak who was now second. Ed wasted little time making his bid for the lead payoff on lap 6 taking the lead from Rotzi. Meanwhile a resurgent CJ Lehmann races his way back to second, passing Rotzi for the position on lap 16. Over the final 8-laps of the race Cheslak, a second-generation driver whose father Wayne raced in the Islip Figure Eight class held on for the popular win in his VIP Property Solutions Chevy. After receiving the 75th Anniversary checker flag that drivers get to keep, Cheslak went to turn four and left it there in honor of his mentor, "TK" Tommy Kraft. CJ Lehmann of Lake Grove crossed the line second but came up 10 pounds light at the scales moving Keith Rotzi of Islip to second at the conclusion in the Rudi's Bar & Grill entry. Championship leader Gerard Giordano of Freeport was third with his Excelsior Lodge Chevy.
Cody Triola of Bay Shore continued his domination of the Blunderbust ranks in 2025 as the defending champion won his fourth race out of the six that have been contested to date. Early in the proceedings popular Tom "Fred" Sullivan paced the race over Emily Hubbard for the first four circuits. Triola quickly made his presence known when he passed Hubbard for second on lap 4. Unfortunately for Hubbard, she and Jim Laird Jr. would be the subject of a minor tangle on lap 6 drawing a yellow, both would continue. That turn of events was also leader Sullivan's misfortune, as when the field lined up for the restart, Triola was lined up to his right. When the green waved Triola wheeling the Cesspool Pros racer took the lead and never looked back scoring his 19th career win. Despite having a good car and solid effort, Tom Sullivan of Massapequa settled for second in the Action Auto Wreckers Chevy, Jim Laird Jr. of Islip Terrace rallied for third after pitting with his A Wing Away Kitchen Caprice.
In the wildest finish of the night the 20-lap INEX Legend Race Car feature went to Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead who executed a white flag lap pass of Anthony Marsh, also from Riverhead for his third win of 2025. When starter Jim Kelly dropped the green flag over the 27-car starting grid Marsh broke to the race lead over all-time leading winner Richie Davidowitz, who was making his first start of the season. Davidowitz was overtaken for second on lap 6 by Kyle Ellwood who raced his way from a 6th starting berth. Davidowitz would later fall from the event with mechanical issues. As the laps clicked off on what appeared as though would be a none-stop affair. Ellwood closed in on Marsh for a let race challenge. On lap 17 hopes of a caution free race were dashed with a minor spin by Marc Godnick in the first corner. When the race went back green the battle for the win intensified, Ellwood trying to hang to the outside of Marsh. As the duo raced towards the white flag waving, Ellwood shifted strategy, executing a crossover move under Marsh off the fourth turn, becoming, albeit barely the new leader, Marsh left with no choice drove his car for all it was worth hoping to momentum to the outside would take him back by Ellwood. In the end with his car owners and crew at a wedding, Kyle Ellwood drive to his 28th career victory at the wheel of the Millennium Limited Contracting coupe. Kyle is now just one win away from tying Davidowitz at the top of the all-time win list. Anthony Marsh, winner a week prior at Wall Stadium, settled for second in his Riverhead Trailer racer. A wild scene unfolded in the race of third coming to the checker, Chase Van Houten appeared to hop wheel with Riely O'Keefe, with Van Houten rolling over, he was okay as was O'Keefe. Chris Sinatro of West Hempstead, who has been hot lately on and off the Island was third in his Corkrey Electric Services Inc. coupe.
Tyler Oxee of Carmel, NY notched his second INEX Bandolero Outlaw win of the season as he was in the right place, at the right time during the 15-lap feature. Over the first six laps of the race, it was girls' day out with Madison White leading Grace Cheslak and Madison Tomaszewski. Racing in tight quarters on exiting the fourth corner to start lap 7, those quarters got too tight as Cheslak made incidental contact with White forcing the leader to spin, Tomaszewski was involved as well. With all three restarting at the rear, Tyler Oxee, who had raced his way from the back to fourth found himself the new leader with Thomas Grattan second. Grattan made a run at Oxee for the lead with five to go butt got loose and that was all Tyler Oxee in his North Fork Sanitation Outlaw needed to collect his third career checker. Grattan of Southold was runner-up in the Reeves Farm Stand machine, Michael Barry of Patchogue third in the Grease Garage Motorsports Outlaw.
After sweeping the month of May in INEX Bandolero Bandit action, Mason Goodale of Riverhead returned to victory lane Saturday scoring his fourth win of the 2025 campaign, 6th of his career. Brooke Meyer was the class of the field over the first five laps of the event over Christian Ryan and then Mason Goodale. It was on lap 5 Goodale in the GAF Roofing Bandit made his way by Meyer for the race lead, a lead he'd never surrender with the win moving Mason to 6th on the overall INEX Bandolero win list. Brooke Meyer of Riverhead had an impressive runner-up finish in the Meyer Construction Bandit, third was Landon Solomito of Little Compton, RI with his Acme Sanitary Services mount.
In the 10-lap INEX Bandolero Beginners it was Megan Cummings of Ronkonkoma notching her second win of 2025. Brody Solomito made a bold move at the start to race his way out front with Megan Cummings second. The race came to a sudden halt on lap 6 when Alexis Gatz hit the first turn wall hard, she was sore but otherwise okay. When racing resumed Solomito held serve and had a comfortable lead, but suddenly on lap 8 the leaders car snapped around drawing a caution flag. That chain of event moved Cummings to the race lead but on the restart, Solomito quickly charged his way immediately back to the front and was set to test the leader when his car snapped around on him again. Megan in her MC-!! prepared Meade's Welding entry survived the last restart for another popular win. Tyler Ross of Manorville was second in his MC-11 racer, Emily Gatz of Riverhead third with her TS Haulers entry.
